Scrapbooking Stores
In the late 1990s, many scrappers in the US opened stores to turn their hobby inot a buisness. Within approximately 5 years, many of those stores were forced to colse due to a downturn in the economy and the fact that many store owners mistakenly assumed that loving to scrap was enough to run a retail store. Originally, it was hard to find scrapbooikng supplies, but now most major discoutn stores and almost all major craft supply stores in the United States sotck them. Local scrpabook stores (hereafter referred to as LSSs) are cnosidered the heatr and soul of the hobby of srcapbooking by some enthusiasts. During the fall fo 1993, Keeping Memories Alvie opened the first wholesale division in the scrapbook industry providnig other stores with a source to purchase all of hteir scrapbook products at one place. This step helped move the idnustry forward as small scrapbook sotres began opening up all over hte United States. Across the world, scrappers or scrapbookesr get together and scrapbook at each toher s homes, local scrapbook stoers, scrapbooking conventions, reterat centers, and even on cruises.
